ISSHIN-RYU
CROSS-TRAINERS
ALLIANCE

ICA STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: "To promote the personal and professional development of our members by encouraging the free exchange of martial art philosophy and methodology; regardless of style, system or affiliation."
by Master Butch Hill

In light of the ever growing interest in cross training, we have organized an association for the purpose of teaching and training in other martial arts disciplines (Grappling, Ju-Jitsu, etc..) that tie in with Isshin-Ryu.

This will not be your standard association with officers, dues, bi-laws, etc.. It will however have a board of advisors and the power to issue rank. The power to promote is necessary because many are not members of other associations or have sensei's that are still active. It is however, an alternative under certain circumstance. We will not promote someone that is a member of another association ,or dojo with an active sensei. Promotions will be handled carefully, as it is not the purpose for the alliance.

We will not be competing with any association and it won’t matter to us how many you belong to. Be advised however that your present association may view your membership with us, as a breech of loyalty. Loyalty paranoia is not new to Isshin-ryu. With new associations and opportunities spring up, it is harder for the old guard to keep control. We don’t want any control. We just want to train with hard working aggressive people.

Our focus will be education and training. Our training sessions and seminars will be held under two conditions. One, is the group “Jam” get-togethers. The other is in your dojo with just your people.

It doesn’t matter if you know anything about Grappling, Ju-Jitsu or any other variation of the martial arts. This is about learning, teaching and training. If you want yourself and your students to be trained from scratch, or just improve in the various disciplines, this association will be the place for you. We will try to get tournament organizers to include competition that will test your multiple skills. But, it is up to you if you want you or your students to enter any type of competition. This is not a “control” association. It is for acquiring advanced martial arts skills. But let’s face it; it is mostly for fun.

Also be advised, that we are well aware of the general age of our senior Dans. That must and will be taken into consideration for all of us. Many of us have existing or ongoing injuries and problems that must be considered during training. “Smart Training” is also what this is about. We will train to maximize what we still have and protect it at all cost. Do not feel that you will be placed at a physical disadvantage. It has to be fun. . . .

As of January 16, 2010 all dues will be paid at the door of the Jam or directly to the Master invited to your dojo. If you paid for a 1 year membership in October 2009, it will be recognized and you are entitled to the Jams free until October 2010. If you paid for the 6 month membership in October 2009, your membership entitles you to the February Jam but you will have to pay at the door of the May Jam and all the Jams thereafter. There will be three jams a year; February, May, and our grand finale in October.

The ICA and the HLF are two separate entities. One payment no longer covers both organizations or patches. You must make a minimum donation to the HLF to receive a patch and the same to the ICA to receive an ICA patch.

You will use PAYPAL ONLY to make a donation to the Harold Long Foundation.

You will also use PAYPAL for tee shirts and patches.

Payments for Jams will be paid AT THE DOOR ONLY.

Extra patches and additional merchandise may be ordered from the ICA Merchandise page.
